Vietnam's Top Legislator Tran Thanh Man Begins Official Visit to China

HANOI, Vietnam – National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man departed Hanoi on 11 October for an official visit to China, where he will co-chair the second session of the cooperation committee between Vietnam's legislature and China's National People's Congress.

The trip comes at the invitation of Zhao Leji, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee. Man is accompanied by a high-level delegation including Politburo member and Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, NA Vice President and Vietnam-China Parliamentary Friendship Group chairman Nguyen Doan Anh, Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau, NA Secretary General Le Quang Manh, and the heads of several NA committees spanning cultural and social affairs, economic and financial affairs, science, technology and environment, and national defence, security and external relations.

The delegation also includes the deputy head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Policy and Strategy, the Deputy Ministers of National Defence and Public Security, the Standing Deputy Foreign Minister, the Deputy Finance Minister, the Deputy Secretary of the Vinh Long provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Council, and Vietnam's Ambassador to China.

This marks Man's first visit to China as Vietnam's top legislator. It aims to advance the foreign policy set at the 14th National Party Congress, deepen cooperation between the two legislatures, and underscore the central role of parliamentary ties in the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
